I chose this song because it sounded like a love song from just the title. Then it turned out I had never heard the song before and I love hearing new songs. When it started I was a little skeptical about it but then once it got farther into the song, I started to actually like it and vibe with it. It made me want to get up and dance because of the way it was sung. It was a mix between a dance song and a blues song. So it sounded more like a blues song but the instruments in the back really made it sound more like a dance song. It was a really interesting song because I usually don’t listen to songs that sound like this.
The song was about the performer talking to a woman who he wants to be with. He talks about the different signals and signs that she is sending him. My favorite line of the song states, “Now I find myself wanting to marry you and take you home.” I like this because he loves her enough at that moment to marry her and be with her for the rest of his life. My least favorite part of the song was the repetition of the lyrics. I don’t really like when this happens in songs because it doesn’t really tell me a story of what is happening to the people the song is about.
This song has really nothing to do with my favorite genre besides it being about love. Most of my favorite country songs are about love and different elements of love. There is not a lot of controversial stuff that goes on in the song. Except to me it sounds like the performer is taking the relationship a little fast. But that is just my personal view because I do not like taking relationship fast and I like going slow and seeing where things go.
This is a very cute love song. It sounds like something that a couple would slow dance to. Sam Cooke's voice is very smooth and enjoyable to listen to. I also found the background vocals to be interesting. However, I agree that repetitive lyrics are a bit annoying, and I wish that there was more variety with the lyrics or music.
ReplyDeleteThis song is one that I really like as well. I also agree that this song would be used probably in a romantic kind of way just based on the title. However, I do kind of like how the background music makes it a dance song, so I do agree that this is a mix between blues and dance. Thanks for your post.
ReplyDeleteI really like your description of this song. I have always been a sucker for country love songs too. I like how you give your favorite part of the song and your least favorite. I think I am going to implement that into my next blog post. I have grown up on country and it's funny to me that I really don't know how or where country came from. And it is fun to learn those things in this class.
